About

Hi, I'm Ty.

I build software for the gear on my own bench: RTL-SDR radios, a Power Mac G5 that's still earning its keep, and a music library too big for anyone else's app.

Why this exists

Most of what's here started as something I wanted for myself. Clearwave started as a way to just listen to FM and HD Radio on an RTL-SDR dongle, without setting up a full SDR suite. The Leopard apps exist because a dual G5 still makes a very good radio. Cadence came from wanting recommendations drawn from my own library instead of a streaming service's.

Everything is tested on real hardware before it's called done, and everything is served from a small home lab. There are no ads, no trackers and no accounts.

The test bench

  • Power Mac G5, Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard
  • A MacBook for the Intel and modern macOS builds
  • RTL-SDR Blog V4 dongles
  • Android phones and emulators for Cadence
  • A home lab that hosts this site, downloads and updates

How releases work

One download pageEvery installer is on downloads.tdtech.org with a SHA-256 checksum.
Built-in updatesThe apps check updates.tdtech.org, show the release notes, and are getting one-click rollback to the previous version.
Betas firstNew versions go out as betas before they're marked stable. Clearwave Legacy Public Beta 1 is the first.

Bug reports, questions, feature ideas, or a station that won't lock: email is the way for now. I read everything, though a reply can take a few days.

The address is put together by a tiny script to keep scrapers away; without JavaScript it reads as written.

Reporting a bug

  • Which app and version (it's in the About window)
  • Your Mac or phone and its OS version
  • Your dongle, if it's a radio app
  • What you expected, and what happened instead

A Send Feedback button inside the apps is planned for a later beta. Found a security problem? Use the same address with SECURITY in the subject.
